MaryAnn Wunderlin

Wood assemblage utilizes thin pieces of naturally weathered wood assembled into renderings of North American architecture from the last two centuries. The process involves retrieving weathered siding from old buildings and cutting a veneer from the weathered boards. Once the design is completed, the application of the weathered veneers to a framed background carries out a creative historical theme. The artist's emphasis on perspective, design and detail address a collector's quest for nostalgia and aesthetics. The purity of the structural forms sometimes elicits a range of feelings from loneliness and abandonment to warm recollections of the past.
