Using light, texture and my love for anatomy & botany, I hope to portray strength, determination, beauty through pain, peace & healing for whomever needs it. As an artist living with chronic pain, I use my work to simultaneously invoke a longing for what used to be and acceptance of what is, while striving to maintain a positive mind-body connection. Utilizing pointillism and other drawing techniques, now including India ink, I am excited to continue to expand my body of work, as well as create custom one-of-kind commissions for individuals and companies. (Originals and prints of varying sizes are displayed so that my art can fit within my patrons space and budget).

Intuitive, abstract geometric drawings, on paper and wood panel. No preliminary sketches. I let the ritual of making guide me. Each drawing is like a meditation, akin to repeating a mantra or using prayer beads.
Constructed using a .2mm, 2B and HB Mechanical pencil, Polychromous colored pencils, ink, ruler and a compass.
My drawings are born out of my interests in science, astronomy, science fiction, geometry in nature and metaphysics.

I sketch my composition very lightly in pencil. I begin to add the black ink dots one at a time. Tones and depth are added through the placement of dots. At this point, the artwork begins to come to life. Shadows and depth can be seen by the variation of how close the dots are placed in correlation to one another. I apply my dots of ink to a white piece of illustration board using a Rapidograph technical pen. My collection also includes some works with a touch of color and black ink in the style of pointillism. I demonstrate by working on a current piece of art during shows. I have been creating my artwork in the style of pointillism for over 30 years. My collection of 250 pieces include many commissioned projects from all over the United States. All works of art are created with passion, patience and persistence with each piece taking 20 to 40 hours to complete. Pointillism is also referred to as stippling, was introduced by French artist Georges Seurat in the late 1800’s.

I use watercolor in order to create a stunning effect that will later accentuate and highlight my drawing's depths and shadows. More interestingly, I then spend between 50-70 hours with a .005 Micron Pen, creating very small intricate world art inspired designs in my artwork. I challenge myself to improvise new designs in each piece I create. Over the past year I have started to embed smaller hidden drawings within the larger image in order to peak the interest of my viewers, patrons, and collectors alike

The majority of my content is comprised of animals, a smaller portion is inspired by whichever region of the country my next art show will be held. However, all of my subject matter is chosen from what ever makes me happiest at the time!

All works are drawn and created by me, using ink over water color on cold pressed water color paper.
My Originals range from 11x14 to 18x24 Inches.

The imaginary animals Ann draws look quite natural. Her sensitive style and subdued palette suggest wildlife illustration, not fantasy drawing, and it takes a second look to notice the fantastic hidden among the regular. Inspired by bizarre descriptions of animals in medieval Bestiaries, Ann’s playful animal combinations are sometimes puns, such as the Sealion, sometimes ironic, as in the case of the Sloth-chita, and sometimes simply evocative, like the Ta-rat-ula. Her process begins with a charcoal sketch on toned paper to work out the basic structure of her drawing, after which she blocks in general areas of color in pastel. When she is satisfied with general shape and form, Ann continues to layer pastels, meticulously blending colors and adding details until she reaches the desired balance of whimsy and realism. Through these delicate and beautifully odd animals Ann celebrates the abnormal, the unusual, and the uncategorizable.

2017 booth # 67B

These “Circular Meditations” are a series of 54 pen & ink drawings completed in a three week drawing binge. The title of the series refers to the near meditative state that I found while working on these drawings. The drawings are numbered chronologically. I was exploring circular/ovate forms as an artistic exercise, adhering to several arbitrary “procedural rules.” With intention, I created variant drawings, exploring techniques and forms. Hundreds of thousands of “circles” drawn.

2019 Booth #72

I make State Icons, which are digital illustrations of U.S. landmarks in handmade frames. I draw each one—at the small size that it's displayed—with a mouse. The archival-quality giclée prints are created in my studio, and finished in frames that are made by my parents. I also make other items that feature my State Icon illustrations, such as zip pouches, larger matted prints, candles, pot holders, and note cards.
