2019 Booth #3
I hand paint the motifs using a variety of mediums, usually watercolor or india either on watercolor paper or rice paper.
Next I scan them into the computer where I clean, recolor and engineer with print using several different software design programs: Photoshop, Illustrator and NED graphics (a very niche textile software that allows you to keep the painterly effect while separating out colors)
Last step, the images are printed onto silk using a Mimaki printer. This is a sublimation dye printer using acid inks. The curation process is steaming, making the images colorfast. Edges are rolled hand hemmed.
